Who we are

meine-ip.info is a free, ad-free platform for IP and network analysis, operated from Switzerland. We publish exclusively under the meine-ip.info brand — no personal profiles, no rotating authors. Behind the site sits a small editorial team with years of experience in network administration, DNS configuration, TLS setup and email authentication.

What we offer

Eleven tools for the most common network tasks: IP location lookup, speed test, DNS lookup, Whois, blacklist check, SSL check, HTTP header check, port scanner, IPv6 test, subnet calculator and DNS leak test. Plus a free REST API, an embeddable widget for webmasters, a 30-term network glossary and over 25 in-depth guides with step-by-step instructions.

Data sources and methodology

Geolocation data comes from the MaxMind GeoLite2 database (monthly updates; current date shown in the footer). Blacklist checks query 30+ established DNSBLs in real time (Spamhaus, Barracuda, SORBS, SpamCop and others). SSL and header checks are performed live from our Swiss servers without caching the target. Whois queries go directly to the responsible registry or RIR servers (RIPE for Europe, ARIN for North America, APNIC for Asia-Pacific).

Editorial standards

Articles are reviewed against current standards (RFCs, OWASP recommendations, MaxMind methodology) before publication. Configuration examples (nginx, Apache, DNS records) are verified on running test servers. Statistics on adoption (e.g. "35 % of top sites are IPv6-capable", "TLS 1.3 as default") are sourced from public studies and re-verified at least every six months. When we find errors we correct transparently — the latest update appears in every article header.

Privacy and tracking

How we are financed

Through affiliate recommendations for VPN and hosting providers that thematically match our tools. We only recommend providers we have technically vetted. Affiliate commissions do not influence our test results or comparison tables. In comparison articles we transparently name weaknesses and strengths of each provider.

Tech stack

Open source, PHP 8.4, nginx, MaxMind GeoLite2, Leaflet (maps), no frameworks, no trackers. Hosted in Switzerland. Brotli compression, TLS 1.3, HSTS, CSP — every security header as we recommend it to our readers.
